The Children’s Museum of Richmond is searching for a part-time Facilities Technician to help us achieve our mission of inspiring growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play. This position supports the Chesterfield and Downtown locations and reports to the Manager of Facilities and Exhibits.
Responsibilities:
The Facilities Technician will support the Museum by ensuring both locations are clean, comfortable, and safe environments for visitors, volunteers, and staff. The Technician will assist the Faculties and Exhibits team maintain exhibits, building, and outside areas. This position will perform daily maintenance of the two facilities as needed, including electrical and plumbing troubleshooting and repair, maintaining landscaping, painting, moving furniture, and assisting with exhibits fabrication. This position offers a flexible schedule that can include evening, nights, and weekends.
Competencies:
Candidates should have enthusiasm for and dedication to the mission and work of the Museum. Candidates should be enthusiastic and focused on providing excellent customer service and should be able to proactively identify and manage maintenance projects with little supervision.
Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should have two or more years’ experience in a facilities maintenance environment and a general understanding of building, electrical, and plumbing maintenance. Handyman abilities are desired. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, walk, stand, bend, lift, and move up to sixty pounds.
Candidates should have the ability to pass a background check and have an unrestricted driver’s license.
